[11C]raclopride and [18F]fallypride are radioligands used in positron emission tomography (PET) for imaging dopamine D2/D3 receptors in the brain. [11C]raclopride is a competitive D2/D3 antagonist (KD ~1-10 nM) that is sensitive to changes in endogenous dopamine levels and is primarily used for imaging striatal dopamine receptors. [18F]fallypride is a high-affinity ligand suitable for imaging extrastriatal dopamine D2/D3 receptors. The longer half-life of 18F (110 min) compared to 11C (20 min) makes [18F]fallypride more practical for certain studies, particularly pharmacologic challenge studies. Both radioligands are widely used in neuroscience research to study dopamine receptor availability and changes in endogenous dopamine concentration.
